After a severe but short-lived storm on Friday night, a breath-taking rainbow landed just at the edge of the forest, where the ploughed field meets the winery road.
Yes, I've heard that ... but I think I may just take my chances this year. I'm putting in tomatoes, corn, potatoes and onions. I have already got a good crop of garlic and cabbages on the go. Our summer colour (such as geraniums) is still inside the barn winterising ... I won't bring them out yet, not until April at least. Hark!! What's that I hear?! It's the cackling of a hen who's just laid an egg!
Hi, Tony, I didn’t know you had vineyards in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rainbow and beautiful photos.
Thank you. Yes, Domaine de Quissat is just down the road. Wonderful neighbours and excellent wine. We regularly send our chambre-d'hote guests there.
DeleteA good omen for something.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, maybe our summer crops which I am soon to plant!
DeleteTony, the tradition says don’t plant anything before mid-May because the Ice Saints—May 11th, 12th and 13t—may freeze them. Forewarned is forearmed!

DeleteAudax Fortuna juvat!
Fortune favors the bold!
Who can wait until mid may ? Once that sun comes out I'm eager to get started.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear more about how your chickens are settling in - especially the recalcitrant one.
