We got a team of tree-fellers in to cut down a patch of 80 year old Lalandi pines obscuring the view of the valley.
It's made the world of difference.

And the view is spectacular. So happy that it worked out ok. Now you can see the sangliers coming.
ReplyDeleteYou bet Kerrie! I've used branches and logs to create a barrier to the boar around the south-eastern perimeter after I noticed tracks and a bit of digging. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteYou have to protect your patch of artichokes and saffron
DeleteBonjour Tony. Eh! bien, ça, c'est une entreprise considérable et vous allez avoir du bois de chauffage pour un bout de temps.
ReplyDeleteI could not find Lalandi Pines, but I found Leyland Pines and thanks to you I read the fascinating story of the Leyland Cypress on the Wikipedia page :
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyland_cypress
I think Lalandi and Leyland are the same thing. So, I think your trees are Cupressus × leylandii.
Now, whichever way you turn you have a great view.
I love your raised-bed jardin potager.
Now, I am mystified by photo #6. A very interesting illusion d'optique happened. I saw a bright panicle of white flowers coming from the yucca- or sago palm-looking plant in the right bottom corner of the photo next to the last. It was just the bright sun on the stones of the house!
In photo # 4, did these two extraterrestrials speak English?
DeleteThey did! They said, "Take me to your leader". I said, "Sorry, Cliona's out shopping!"
DeleteThanks for correcting my lazy spelling of those pesky pines ... they are indeed Leylandii. They're a bloddy menace! I'm going to have three huge bonfires this Christmas.
The white flowers coming from the sago palm are actually new leaves shooting as a cluster in the centre of the plant. As usual, Charles-Henry, it was great to hear from you. I do hope you are keeping well.
Yes, Tony. There is a little improvement but I'm still bedridden as I have been for the last fifteen months. Take care yourself and enjoy life with extraterrestrials!
